[edit] Full Description
OpenMeetings.org is a video transcription and annotation platform that features full-length recordings of meetings that span a broad range of social issues. Project goals are to increase availability, discoverability, and liberty to comment on these archived meetings. The project, inspired by MetaVid (metavid.org), was launched in June 2009 and is built from entirely free and open source software.
[edit] Operation details
OpenMeetings.org is currently run as a sole proprietorship by George Chriss. The project welcomes submission of recorded, open-to-the-public meetings for the purpose of crowd-sourced transcription and annotation.
The project was launched on 7-June-2009 and hosts a MetaVidWiki instance known as "OMwiki". (MetaVidWiki is an extension of Semantic MediaWiki.) All content and software tools are free/libre as detailed on Copyrights.
We are aspiring to become a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
OpenMeetings.org should not be confused with openmeetings open-source web-conferencing software.
