OpenMeetings.org is run and operated as a sole proprietorship by George Chriss. The project welcomes submission of recorded, open-to-the-public meetings for the purpose of being transcribed and annotated by volunteer editors. Note that all content and software tools are free/libre as detailed on Copyrights.

The domain name was registered on 7-June-2009 and hosts a MetaVidWiki instance known as "OMwiki". (MetaVidWiki is an extension of Semantic MediaWiki.) Upcoming OMwiki features include a mailing list, thumbnail preview support (contingent upon donations), and the creation of a basic internal structure.

OMwiki will operate with a point of view content-neutral point of view. Transcripts and annotations can and should be improved for fairness, accuracy, and precision. However, any political commentary should be published elsewhere.

As of June 2009, the collection consists of 40 meetings pertaining to shared governance at The Pennsylvania State University. The meetings are hosted on the Internet Archive and are available for browsing and/or download. The vast majority of the content is non-transcribed, although official minutes may be available.

Advertisements will not be published nor accepted. However, hardware or financial donations to support this project may be sent via Paypal or check/money order.

The two major costs to date include:
$650 for Canon FS22 and related equipment
$100 domain name registration and hosting
No funds have been donated as of 15-June-2009. Be the first!

OpenMeetings.org would not be possible without the tireless development work done by those interested in building an open society---in both the technical and social sense.

Finally, OpenMeetings.org should not be confused with openmeetings open-source web-conferencing software.
